How does the search bar work?

Enter any topic of your choice – for example, ingredients, categories, product types, skin concerns, or brands.

While typing, you’ll receive helpful suggestions to find your topic faster.

The displayed metrics refer to the most recently recorded monthly search volume and give you a quick sense of your topic’s relevance. You can always choose between Topics or Collections.

Topics

A Topic represents a clearly defined search area — such as a specific ingredient, product type, effect, or attribute.
Each Topic aggregates all search queries directly related to that theme.

Examples:

  • Face Moisturizer

  • Vitamin C Serum

  • Anti-Frizz Shampoo

Topics are precisely defined to include only closely related search terms, ensuring that trends and demand movements can be analyzed with high accuracy.

Collections

A Collection groups several related Topics under one overarching theme, allowing entire market landscapes to be explored instead of individual terms.

Example:
The Eye Care Collection includes the Topics Eye Cream, Eye Serum, Lash Serum, and Eye Lift.

Collections enable users to:

  • Compare performance within a segment – e.g., which product types are gaining most attention within a category

  • Identify relationships – between different formulations, effects, or claims

  • Understand broader themes – such as how consumer interest in Retinoids evolves across related search terms (Retinol, Vitamin A, Retinal)
